Abstract
In Genera, the prolactin levels during labor have been suggested that will correlate with fetal and maternal distress.
This study was undertaken to find correlation between prolactin levels and the degree of distress.
We measure the prolactin level by radioimmunoassay in maternal and cord blood just after vaginal delivery in 103 cases healthy term pregnant women.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1. The mean prolactin levels were 213.82¡¾149.02ng/ml in maternal serum, 365.78¡¾154.79ng/ml in cord serum.
2. The mean cord prolactin levels in primigravida were significantly higher than that in multigravida.
3. The longer the time of labor became, the higher the cord prolactin levels became.
4. The cord prolactin levels with meconium stain during labor were higher than that without meconium stain.
5. The cord prolactin levels with deceleration patterns during labor were higher than that without deceleration pattern.
6. The cord prolactin levels with premature rupture of membrane were higher than that without premature rupture of membrane.
